Grandma's Classic Meatloaf

ডিটাইম ডেস্ক :

A hearty and comforting dish that your grandma used to make, complete with a flavorful blend of ground meats, breadcrumbs, onions, and a savory glaze.

Ingredients:

1 ½ pounds ground beef

1 cup breadcrumbs

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg

½ cup milk

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ cup ketchup

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Meat Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix gently but thoroughly, using your hands or a fork.

Shape the Meatloaf:

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish. You can either shape it free-form on the dish or use a loaf pan.

Make the Glaze:

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. This will be the delicious glaze for the meatloaf.

Apply the Glaze:

Brush the ketchup glaze over the top of the meatloaf, ensuring it's evenly coated.

Bake:

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). The glaze should be caramelized and the meatloaf cooked through.

Rest and Serve:

Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the meatloaf and makes for easier slicing.

Slice and Enjoy:

Slice the meatloaf into thick slices and serve it with your choice of sides, such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a simple salad.

Tips:

You can customize the meatloaf by adding other seasonings like dried rosemary, thyme, or even a dash of hot sauce for a kick.

If you want to make the breadcrumbs from scratch, you can pulse stale bread in a food processor until you get fine crumbs.

Feel free to use a mix of ground meats like beef and pork for added flavor.

This recipe captures the essence of Grandma's comforting and flavorful meatloaf, perfect for bringing back cherished memories and sharing a delicious meal with loved ones.
